We would like you to consider becoming a sustainer and help us continue our fight for an economic recovery that benefits youth, students, and all working people.
The election of Barack Obama as president of the United States will forever be known as a major turning point, not only in US history, but in the history of the world. Leaders worldwide agreed with Obama’s assertion in his now famous “A More Perfect Union” speech that only in our country, with it’s rich and unique experiences and traditions of struggle against racism and national oppression, could the candidacy and corresponding election of an African-American man with such a diverse heritage occur. And that such a candidate could tap into and relate to the experiences of so many people.
In this new period, the Young Communist League is needed now more than ever! We must continue the fight to ensure that the economic recovery money is distributed properly, making sure states fund public education, unemployment and job training, and other programs that benefit young and old alike.
Additionally, YCL clubs are recruiting new members via regional schools, such as the Midwest School in Chicago, and mobilizing a delegation to Cuba with the Venceremos Brigade for the 50th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution. All the while, YCLers around the country are gearing up for our national convention in little more than a year.
It’s with your support that we can continue to build a stronger, bigger YCL. In these difficult economic times, it will be through the financial support of sustainers that will help the YCL maintain its daily functions and make a lasting contribution on the youth and student movement.
Today we ask that you continue your generous support of the YCL and consider becoming a sustainer of our organization. Becoming a sustainer will allow you to give more to the YCL, without burdening yourself. Give the YCL $100 by paying $25 each quarter, and help us maintain day-to-day office tasks! Our national office will remind you when your sustainer is due.
As a sustainer, your quarterly contribution will help to ensure that we carry out our daily work of building the YCL and uniting youth to solve our current economic crisis.
